Kaiser – Solitude EP [Monocode]

Italian producer Kaiser is back with his new EP on Monocode is two original tracks and 2 remixes. The US-based label is all about the music and wants to take techno to its roots and only deliver the very best in underground shattering beats. It’s had huge releases from the likes of Cassegrain and Unbalanced, and of course label boss Ari Atai.

The first track Solitude, also the title of the EP, is a pacey and punchy underground burner. It’s an energetic, vigorous sprint that is certain to set dance floors ablaze. It has an underground synth and merges with an attacked base drum rolling hi-hats and frantic snare. Be sure to take on some water because it’s sizzling, sweaty and broiling.

It’s remixed by Dutch producer Invite. A stalwart in the scene and performing in clubs across the world, he brings his own creative flair to the track. Slower but bouncier, he tones down the bass but compensates with a fluid bassline that dictates the cut. It has a short stabbing synth that feels like a countdown and adds a certain element of fear. It’s sewer techno that is lost and dark.

The second track Another Platform is the techno equivalent of a battle cry. It’s volatile and radioactive, ready for nuclear explosion and causes absolute pandemonium. It’s a builder, beginning with an innocuous enough bass drum, before hi-hats and other elements are added to increase the velocity until the track reaches a boiling point. It has builds for slight respite but is an offensive assault.

It’s remixed by none other than German duo Cassegrain. Little need for an introduction, the duo is massive on the scene and has released under the likes of Semantica Records and Prologue. They take the cut and slow it a bit but add a certain sophistication. It’s bubbling and warped, with an intricate bassline that demands attention. They introduce a bit of pace and this revolving synth that is baroque in style and structure.
