Beckahesten – Vattenhålens Dräpare [Cyclic Law]
Beckahesten is a new Swedish project featuring Peo Bengtsson, Per Åhlund of Skare and Diskrepant and vocals from Viktoria Rolandsdotter.
Their sound mix dark ambient with ritual innuendos, folklore, soothing poetry and eerie atmospheres full of evoking harmonies. The result is a crepuscular experience recalling ancient roots and atavistic emotions.
Vattenhålens Dräpare is their debut on Cyclic Law, a work informed by the aforementioned elements in a cohesive and captivating experience. Förnimmelsen welcomes us with its cinematic soundscape upon which whispered vocals are layered in a mysterious take, while ominous sounds slowly develop nightly atmospheres.
Skuggan is an even eerier track, a collection of subtle effects on the background of a crawling movement where the female vocals become an operatic performance with ritualistic tones. The final long episode Hotet is a soulful interpretation reminding us of Dead Can Dance, progressively mutating with orchestral elements which never explode, maintaining instead a haunting motif.
A work for the lovers of dark and evocative sounds, Vattenhålens Dräpare offers a journey for the soul and the mind via slow atmospheres and cinematic soundscapes full of eerie effects and ritualistic mantras. Give it a try!
