BLYPKEN – Beyondaries [FALK Records]
BLYPKEN is the current artistic project of Romanian sound producer and designer George Stanciulescu. In his previous stage he first released a series of albums under the alias Ad Ombra, name under which he was active from 2005 to 2011. The style he used with this alias in his first works was directed towards a classicist and orchestral sound, with melodies and textures more typical of a soundtrack. But over the years, this neoclassicist and romantic genre resulted in an orchestral work with a darker background. This evolution was really admirable, in the same piece we can hear string instruments, brass instruments, harpsichords, operatic voices, filtered voices and many synthesized and degraded elements, a mixture between classical music and really interesting industrial music. This style was also present with his publications such as LeVant, another of his nicknames.
But already in 2019, Stanciulescu has restructured again his musical project as BLYPKEN, nickname with which he publishes in Beyondaries, EP that he signs in the Icelandic label FALK. A hybrid puzzle operating between chaos & structure with the dynamic means of psychological surgery.
Flashy plasma reflections. Post-internet delusions. Oxygen craving hedonism. Raw memes of indulgement. Limits devouring limits. Isolated intimacy warfare. Corrosive anxiety, hope-petting harmony.
Beyond all this, BLYPKEN invites you to a transfusive experience, encompassing post-industrial deconstructions, experimental club tropes, balkanic , ambient and psychedelic undertones destined to engage some triggering echoes that pertain to the the (sub)conscious layers of the self.
«Moths» is a the first cut of Beyondaries, a deconstructed club track bordering around moody martial beats, spectrally processed vocal samples and shapeshifting folk-infused atmospheres set over the audioreactive visual programming done by Alex Dromp.
Release date: November 12th, 2019.
