Cathode Ray Tube – High Cube Drifter [M-Tronic]
M-Tronic is a Parisian label founded in 2001 with the aim of being an innovative platform for all kinds of electronic experiments and styles that are outside the mainstream, a platform that rewards the feeling with its followers eventually offering bandcamp releases for free or with a voluntary contribution from the buyer.
Last year, American producer Cathode Ray Tube debuted on this platform with Invisible Soundtracks, an album that mixes genres such as experimental music and IDM. 9 months later he comes back with another great release in which he insists again on using complex textures to create 8 tracks with glitch, broken rhythms, arpeggiated lines and a lot of ambient harmony.
Charles Terhune is the one behind Cathode Ray Tube, pseudonym of this Portland producer, who fuses IDM with other genres such as downtempo, ambient or drum n ‘bass. Cathode Ray Tube is a great example of a lifetime dedicated to a style as selective as idm and electronic vanguard.
High Cube Drifter is Cathode Ray Tube’s tenth album and his second on M-Tronic. This release has been available since April 1st and both this album and the one previously released by the American artist can be purchased with a voluntary contribution from the buyer.
