Riff fool – Sarubia

Riff fool is a Seoul-based singer-songwriter and producer who turns personal experiences into narrative soundscapes. Pushing music to its absolute limits, his sound merges genres like digital hardcore, noise, and industrial. Far from holding back, his music channels raw emotions, such as anxiety, regret, and loneliness, structuring each track as a standalone chapter within a broader overarching narrative.

His debut album, Sarubia, chronicles his life journey from leaving his hometown in late 2021 through May 2025. The record portrays the harsh reality check of a young man arriving in the capital full of hope and no support system, only to be consumed by frustration and disillusionment. The release seamlessly blends extreme genres to mirror every psychological stage of this transition.

The title references the salvia flower (sarubia), traditionally associated with passion and the warmth of home. Throughout the album, this symbol is inverted to represent hope fading prematurely. Yet, Sarubia does not romanticize defeat. Through a narrative loop where the final track ties back into the first, the album suggests that without true transformation, pain and frustration are doomed to repeat in an endless cycle. More than a chronicle of failure, it stands as a brutally honest snapshot of the rift between expectation and reality.

Riff fool es un cantautor y productor afincado en Seúl que transforma sus vivencias personales en experiencias sonoras narrativas. Su propuesta se muestra como un patrón extremo al fusionar estilos como digital hardcore, noise e industrial. Lejos de esconderse, su música canaliza emociones crudas como la ansiedad, el arrepentimiento y la soledad, estructurando cada tema como un capítulo independiente dentro de un relato global más amplio.

Su primer álbum, Sarubia, abarca su vivencia vital desde que dejó su pueblo natal a finales de 2021 hasta mayo de 2025. El disco retrata el choque con la realidad de un joven sin apoyos que llega a la capital lleno de ilusión y termina devorado por la frustración y el desengaño. El lanzamiento combina con fluidez géneros extremos para reflejar cada etapa psicológica.

El título toma como referencia la flor de la salvia, asociada popularmente a la pasión y al calor del hogar. En el disco, este símbolo se invierte y representa cómo la esperanza se marchita antes de tiempo. Sin embargo, Sarubia no romantiza el fin. A través de un bucle narrativo donde el último corte enlaza con el primero, el álbum sugiere que, sin una transformación real, el dolor y la frustración están destinados a repetirse en ciclo. Más que un diario del fracaso, es una radiografía brutalmente honesta de la brecha entre las expectativas y la realidad.
