SÍLENÍ – The Lost Themes

SÍLENÍ is the dark experimental electronic music project of the sound designer and media composer Valter Abreu. Starting around 2014-2015 as a personal exploration of sound design, custom synthesizers, and sampling techniques, while Valter encountered a creative block in his alternative rock/metal project, Radiant Thought.

SÍLENÍ es el proyecto de música electrónica experimental y oscura del diseñador de sonido y compositor multimedia Valter Abreu. Surgió entre 2014 y 2015 como una exploración personal del diseño sonoro, sintetizadores personalizados y técnicas de sampling, cuando Valter atravesaba un bloqueo creativo en su proyecto de rock/metal alternativo, Radiant Thought.

By late 2015, the first compositions for SÍLENÍ were combined into a self-titled debut album, released independently on Bandcamp in October 2016. These tracks featured some heavy industrial elements, as well as some disturbing soundscapes and horror-like melodies. While the initial release saw limited exposure due to minimal promotion, it gained a second life in January 2018 with its re-release by the now-defunct independent netlabel Cephalopagus Records.

A finales de 2015, las primeras composiciones de SÍLENÍ se agruparon en un álbum debut homónimo, publicado de forma independiente en Bandcamp en octubre de 2016. Estos temas combinaban elementos industriales pesados con paisajes sonoros perturbadores y melodías de atmósfera horror. Aunque el lanzamiento inicial pasó desapercibido por la falta de promoción, resurgió en enero de 2018 al ser reeditado por el extinto netlabel independiente Cephalopagus Records.

The second album, Thereafter, followed in December of the same year. This record combined some ideas developed on the first album with a more ambient-driven direction. In 2019, SÍLENÍ found a new home with Italy’s Eighth Tower Records, part of the Unexplained Sounds Group led by Raffaele Pezzella. This partnership welcomed the project’s third album, Long-Forgotten Bowers, released in March 2019. The album showcased a shift in sonic direction, moving more towards ambient music experimentation.

El segundo álbum, Thereafter, llegó en diciembre de ese mismo año, fusionando ideas del primer disco con un enfoque más orientado al ambient. En 2019, SÍLENÍ encontró cobijo en el sello italiano Eighth Tower Records (parte del Unexplained Sounds Group, dirigido por Raffaele Pezzella), donde publicó su tercer trabajo, Long-Forgotten Bowers (marzo de 2019), marcando un giro hacia la experimentación ambient.

Continuing this path, the fourth album, All Heavens Rejoice, was released in May 2020 via Noctivagant Collective. Around this time, SÍLENÍ began contributing to various compilations curated by labels such as Unexplained Sounds Group, Distorted Void, and Music Analysis Discussions Records, further expanding its reach and network. In 2024, Valter initiated a new chapter for SÍLENÍ, redefining the project’s visual and sonic identity. The first step in this evolution is The Lost Themes, a carefully curated selection of 11 remastered tracks originally featured on compilations. Presented as a cohesive album, The Lost Themes bridges the project’s past and future, offering listeners a glimpse of the experiments that will eventually come next.

Release date: March 18th, 2025.

Siguiendo esta línea, en mayo de 2020 apareció el cuarto álbum, All Heavens Rejoice, bajo el sello Noctivagant Collective. Durante este periodo, SÍLENÍ participó en múltiples recopilatorios de sellos como Unexplained Sounds Group, Distorted Void y Music Analysis Discussions Records, ampliando su alcance. En 2024, Valter inició un nuevo capítulo para SÍLENÍ, redefiniendo su identidad visual y sonora. El primer paso es The Lost Themes, una selección de 11 temas remasterizados que aparecieron originalmente en recopilatorios. Presentado como un álbum cohesionado, funciona como puente entre el pasado y el futuro del proyecto, adelantando los experimentos que están por llegar.
