Statiqbloom – Bled From All Sides [self-released]

Statiqbloom is a project that has gone through several stages over the years. Started in 2014 as a solo outfit, it soon became a duo in which the mastermind Fade Kainer worked with Denman C. Anderson until 2020. This phase was charachterized by an electro-industrial/EBM sound informed Canadian and American acts, while experimenting with some contemporary sounds too.

Starting from the album Threat the project went solo again, exploring current techno-industrial and rhythmic noise territory akin to the «Berlin sound» (the city where the artist currently resides), under the tutelage of pioneering label Sonic Groove. The last album Fire Of The Heart worked as a synthesis of these approaches, while firmly established in the current setting of the project.

Bled From All Sides is a self-released album that in some way celebrates the newer identity of Statiqbloom casting light on some darker corners of the third phase of its career: here we find a collection of rare tracks coming from various compilations published over the years.

Infernal Containment is a brooding fusion of dark ambient and grim, obsessive noise tendencies developed through and unnerving slow motif that climaxes with sharper sounds in its finale. Desolate employs eerie soundscapes and pulsating, frantic kicks in an acidic late-night dancefloor episode in line with the project later interests, while Sharp Silhouttes follows suit with an even more metallic sounds focused on distorted rhythms.

The Serpent’ s Tail offers a stark, nocturnal dark techno sound rooted in looping bass-sounds and creeping snares, Optimum Contempt crushes the listener with its warehouse-techno nature, not far from some productions coming from Perc Trax. It sounds like a train ploughing through the soundscape, taking no prisoners.

Galvanized Thorns ends the journey with a malevolent techno-industrial piece graced by some effected vocals and an enthralling use of distortion and steady kicks. The final result is an eerie, robust mid-tempo that engulfs the listener with its dense, dark atmosphere.

Bled From All Sides is a nice compendium of stand-alone tracks showcasing Statiqbloom current sound and aesthetics, a showroom of apocalyptic techno-industrial numbers full of grit, grinding sounds, and hypnotizing rhythmic obsesssions.

Statiqbloom es un proyecto que ha atravesado varias etapas a lo largo de los años. Comenzó en 2014 como un proyecto en solitario, pero pronto se convirtió en un dúo en el que el cerebro creativo, Fade Kainer, colaboró con Denman C. Anderson hasta 2020. Esta fase se caracterizó por un sonido electro-industrial/EBM influenciado por artistas canadienses y estadounidenses, sin dejar de experimentar con sonidos contemporáneos.

A partir del álbum Threat, el proyecto volvió a ser en solitario, adentrándose en territorios de techno-industrial y rhythmic noise cercanos al «sonido Berlín» (ciudad donde reside actualmente el artista), bajo el sello pionero Sonic Groove. Su último álbum, Fire Of The Heart, sirvió como síntesis de estos enfoques, consolidando la dirección actual del proyecto.

Bled From All Sides es un álbum autoeditado que, en cierto modo, celebra la nueva identidad de Statiqbloom, arrojando luz sobre algunos de los rincones más oscuros de esta tercera fase. Aquí encontramos una colección de temas inéditos, extraídos de diversas compilaciones publicadas a lo largo de los años.

Infernal Containment es una fusión de dark ambient y tendencias de noise obsesivas, desarrollándose a través de un motivo lento y perturbador que culmina en sonidos cortantes. Desolate emplea paisajes sonoros inquietantes y bombos frenéticos en un episodio ácido para pistas de baile, en línea con los intereses más recientes del proyecto, mientras que Sharp Silhouettes sigue la misma órbita, pero con un sonido aún más metálico y centrado en ritmos distorsionados.

The Serpent’s Tail ofrece un sonido dark techno nocturno y austero, arraigado en bajos en bucle y cajas reptantes, mientras que «Optimum Contempt» aplasta al oyente con su esencia warehouse-techno, cercana a algunos lanzamientos de Perc Trax. Suena como un tren arrasando el paisaje sonoro, sin dejar prisioneros.

Galvanized Thorns cierra el viaje con una pieza techno-industrial malévola, adornada con voces procesadas y un uso fascinante de distorsión y bombos contundentes. El resultado final es un mid-tempo robusto y ominoso que envuelve al oyente en una atmósfera densa y oscura.

Bled From All Sides es un excelente compendio de temas independientes que muestran el sonido y la estética actual de Statiqbloom: un escaparate de números techno-industrial apocalípticos, llenos de crudeza, sonidos abrasivos y obsesiones rítmicas hipnóticas.
