VA – Noise Forest [Cold Spring]

Noise as an inarticulate or partially unpleasant sound, not as a musical genre, has different connotations depending on each person and the way they process it in their mind. Noise Forest, as a reference to the noise emanating from a forest, is not something that is normally associated with noise, but rather reminds us of silence and solitude. However, the ominous cover art of Noise Forest and the artists on it are reminiscent of the famous Aokigahara Suicide Forest. Although all the tracks belong to the Japanoise genre, they are very diverse, each clearly identified with each artist.

El ruido como sonido inarticulado o parcialmente desagradable, no como género musical, tiene distintas connotaciones según cada persona y la manera de procesarlo su mente. Noise Forest, como referencia al ruido que emana desde un bosque, no es algo que se asocie normalmente con el ruido, más bien nos recuerda al silencio y la soledad. Sin embargo, el ominoso arte de la portada e Noise Forest y los artistas que lo componen recuerdan al famoso bosque del suicidio de Aokigahara. A pesar de que todos los temas pertenecen al género Japanoise, son muy diversos, cada uno es fácilmente localizable a cada artista.

Noise Forest, the definitive Japanoise collection, is a classic compilation originally released in 1992 by the cult label and record shop Les Disques Du Soleil, located in Osaka when it was active. It is currently impossible to find an original copy of this compilation, which was released in its day only in CD format. However, Cold Spring brings back this gem, remastered and released this time on a double LP, with a very neat box, and they also release a new CD edition with new artwork.

Noise Forest, la colección definitiva de Japanoise, es un recopilatorio clásico publicado originalmente en 1992 por el sello de culto y tienda de discos Les Disques Du Soleil, ubicaod en Osaka cuando estuvo activo. Actualmente es imposible encontrar una copia original de este recopilatorio, que se publicó en su día solo en formato CD. No obstante, Cold Spring recupera esta joya, remasterizada y publicada en esta ocasión en un doble LP, con una caja muy cuidad, y también lanzan una nueva edición de CD con nuevas ilustraciones.

Noise Forest brings together a series of Japanese artists, big names who are still active such as Merzbow or his bandmate Masonna, or other great figures and groups such as Dislocation or Solmania, or the extinct Violent Onsen Geisha, C.C.C.C. and the unfortunately deceased Monde Bruits.

Noise Forest reúne a una serie de artistas japoneses, a grandes nombres que todavía están en activo como es le caso de Merzbow o su compañero de bandas Masonna, u otras grandes figuras y grupos como Dislocation o Solmania, o los extintos Violent Onsen Geisha, C.C.C.C. y el desgraciadamente fallecido Monde Bruits.
