We Are Not Brothers – R.I.P.
After two decades of sonic agitation, the Alcoy-based electronic punk and post-industrial band We Are Not Brothers (WANB) has announced the definitive end of their project. Formed in Alcoi in 2006, the group is concluding its trajectory following a period of intermittent activity caused by the geographic dispersion of its members. Furthermore, since the pandemic, they have rarely gathered to perform live or create and release new material.
To commemorate these 20 years of history, the band is embarking on a special farewell tour between September 25 and December 26, visiting eight cities (with additional dates pending). This tour celebrates an impeccable legacy within both the national and international dark music scenes. Throughout their career, which includes two early LPs and multiple EPs, WANB reached a high watermark in 2018 with their third album, III (released via Oráculo Records, produced at Estudio Silencio by David Kano, and mastered by Eric Van Wonterghem). Featuring key collaborations with artists such as Ana Curra, Hugo Mas, and The Suicide Of Western Culture, the limited-edition vinyl sold out in just one week and earned widespread acclaim, being named Best National Electronic Album of 2018 by Orbita Magazine and DJ Mag ES.
Their close partnership with Oráculo Records was consolidated across four releases, notably including their track Light on the 2019 Ombra Festival compilation, the release of the Fuck Work EP in 2020, and the vinyl press of their cover of Suicide’s Ghost Rider featuring Ana Curra.
The final chapter of this era will extend beyond the stage: the band will share previously unreleased live recordings from across their career on their YouTube channel. As a final flourish following the tour, a commemorative book authored by Ximo Noguera will be published by Industrial Complexx. The work will review WANB’s history through original interviews, a foreword by band member Damià Llorens, and a curated selection from their visual archives, featuring posters, flyers, and unpublished photographs accumulated over the past twenty years.
The band will also offer exclusive merchandise at their upcoming shows with a pack limited to 100 copies, including a tote bag, poster, t-shirt, patch, stickers, a memorial obituary card, and a Bandcamp download code for a digital-exclusive compilation album.
