Kill Shelter – Special 5th Anniversary Reissue of Damage [Unknown Pleasures Records]
Five years is not an excessively long period in the artistic career of any musician, and even more so when it comes to the beginning of a project. However, although it has been five years since Pete Burns made his debut as Kill Shelter with the release of Damage on the French label Unknown Pleasures Records, his artistic background has already been excellent since that first album.
The repercussion of Kill Shelter in the new darkwave and post-punk scene is very notable, given his creative level and his ability to collaborate with big names in this musical current. We must remember that in his debut with Damage he teamed up with a series of artists and bands such as Hante (FR), Buzz Kull (AUS), Delphine Coma (US), Antipole (NOR), undertheskin (PL), Killjoi (US), The Shyness of Strangers (CA), Iamtheshadow (PT), Nate Jespersen (CA), New Haunts (UK) and Bragolin (NL). As for the result of this debut, it goes without saying that it had a great impact and was the start that many artists would wish for.
It is now 5 years since the release of Damage, and both the author and the label are teaming up again to release Damage [V], a reissue that also includes new versions and remastered tracks. So it’s a good opportunity to acquire an album that was in demand and sold out quickly at the time.
Release date: December 1st, 2023.
