AP DUCAL – U [Weisskalt Records]

Camilo Palma is a Chilean non-musician who starts in 2012 his solo career as AP DUCAL based on live improvised sessions, atmospheric and some kind of soundtrack music. He is also a member of bands like Mutrone (le rock psychophonique), Fulin Lawen (Etcs records) and Föllakzoid (Sacred Bones).

Camilo Palma es un no músico chileno que inicia en 2012 su carrera solista como AP DUCAL basada en sesiones improvisadas en vivo, música atmosférica y algún tipo de banda sonora. También es miembro de bandas como Mutrone (le rock psychophonique), Fulin Lawen (Etcs records) y Föllakzoid (Sacred Bones).

Moody and atmospheric with a nocturnal pulse, “U” is composed of 4 nostalgic experimental ambient tracks drawn from the deep legacy of post-punk and new wave with the silhouette of jazz and the spirit of free improvisation. Sonically, the music is a direct continuation of Palma’s previous work but with a thematically more personal approach. Recorded between November 2022 to February 2023, the majority of the tracks were done in a single take.

Moody y atmosférico con pulso nocturno, «U» se compone de 4 nostálgicos temas de ambient experimental extraídos del profundo legado del post-punk y la new wave con la silueta del jazz y el espíritu de la libre improvisación. Sónicamente, la música es una continuación directa del trabajo anterior de Palma pero con un enfoque temáticamente más personal. Grabado entre noviembre de 2022 y febrero de 2023, la mayoría de los temas se hicieron en una sola toma.

The album scintillates with elegant inclusions from Chilean musician Sebastián Román (Persona RS) whom Palma worked in collaboration with. These unique details contributed to defining the album’s sound without overcomplicating the musical delivery.
