Occupied Head – Holometabolous [nostalgie de la boue]

Among Industrial Complexx’s 2023 projects is the release of Krummhörn, Nostalgie Éternelle‘s album, which also includes a book on the history of the German duo. The book details the trajectory of this legendary band, as well as the history of the side projects of its two members, Dieter Mauson and Stefan Heinze. But today it’s time to talk about one of these alternative projects, Occupied Head, Mauson’s stage name, which started in 2011.

Occupied Head combines electronic, ambient, electro-acoustic and electro pop elements, mostly avoiding a beat in its conventional way and always keeping a meditative character. Playing in clubs the show is more minimal electronic orientated and sometimes even contains some electro pop elements.

Holometabolous was recorded, arranged and mixed by Occupied Head between May and December 2023. Most tracks were originally recorded for Ubuibi’s show «Mysteries of UB» (episode 92) and were subsequently rearranged. This eight-track showcases Occupied Head’s ability to generate different atmospheric contexts, as each cut, in addition to telling its own story, intensely penetrates the mind and subconscious of the listener. Holometabolous deserves to be listened to from one’s own introspection.
