Ścinki – Without autotune you’re nothing [Ubocze Rec.]
The work of a netlabel dignifies the passion of the artists and record labels because all the content they publish is free, as these projects are created without any profit motive, however, this does not mean that the result and the quality of their music is not cared for as it happens with the rest of the record labels. Despite operating under Creative Commons licences, the quality of many netlabels is amazing, both for their creativity and for their excellent sound treatment.
The Polish netlabel Ubocze has joined forces with another label, Sleezy Dog, under the name Ubocze Rec. This project is a publishing initiative based in Wrocław that operates online (occasionally also materialising in the urban space). Netlabel associating solo acts, artists and bands from the circle of widely understood electronic music. From lofi sound to techno and electro-industrial. Ubocze Rec. is a non-profit platform run by friends whose aim is to develop and stimulate the local scene.
Ścinki is one of the nicknames used by Łukasz Bejnar, an artist who also signs his releases as uchylak and chlk. Łukasz Bejnar is the author of almost the entire Ubocze Rec. catalogue, with only a couple of albums not expressly named after one of his projects.
Without autotune you’re nothing is the last album released by Bejnar on Ubocze Rec. as Ścinki, a name he had only used once before. In this 9-track album we can appreciate the artist’s background in creating soundscapes and techniques ranging from field recordings to industrial rhythms and degraded textures.
Release date: February 9th, 2023.
