SMFORMA – Judam Giliau

The Catalan duo SMFORMA, which includes Mario F. and Jogile D., is a project that, although it has been active for about 4 years, always appears on stage sporadically and usually together with other artists, as to date they have only released a single EP. However, their presence and notoriety is increasing, and this is possibly due to two factors: the first is their powerful live performance, since in their shows they demonstrate, in addition to a great solidity on stage, their enormous aptitude to adapt to different sound fields. The second factor, and no less important, is that their few productions have been released on major labels such as Oráculo Records, SOIL Records or Diffuse Reality.

SMFORMA is back again, but this time with the release of Judam Giliau, a self-published digital track that perfectly sums up the style of this musical project. SMFORMA employs the use of mangled metal percussions and harsh, saturated noise and sounds, however atypical to their contemporaries, the focus is placed on blending unusual and lush electronic music textures. With the music and composition predominately relying on improvising, Mario and Jogile seamlessly melds together the dualities and schisms of these opposing sonic worlds into compositions that are truly singular which are intended to target the listener’s wounds of trauma and sear them closed by offering a unique world of escapism.
