Shaped by eclecticism, with elements of dark ambient, drone, industrial music, dub & trip-hop at the forefront, The Drift Institute concoct subtle, entrancing compositions of intoxicating melodies, enveloping textures, and heavyweight rhythms, creating a haunting environment loaded with occurrences of explosive sensory catharsis.

Resembling mantric intonations, these words unfold in an acidic criticism of modern society and all its concomitant excess: economic monopolies, the depravities of capitalism, police brutality, and mass surveillance; tyrannies that compel consciousness and insurrection. Yet at The Drift Institute, defiance is no longer purely ideological, direct action becomes carnal because reasoning doesn’t bring about revolutions, bodies do.

NVST & Théo Muller create powerful arrangements of evocative atmosphere and enigmatic symbolism. Drawing on codes of witchcraft and the occult sciences, their cinematographic world recounts a story centred on the rumoured existence of The Drift Institute, a mysterious secret society originating from a remote Gothic castle, driven by a mission to purge evil and depose corrupt leaders through dark shamanic ceremonies.
