Virgin Birth – I Can’t Read

Virgin Birth is an industrial synth-punk duo formed by Phillip Olympia and Jake Miller, based in Louisville, Kentucky. Both musicians have deep roots in punk and indie rock, having played in various bands over the years. Their shared admiration for the industrial scene of the ’80s and ’90s sparked numerous conversations that eventually led them to aggressively experiment with drum machines and synthesizers. After recording a series of demos, it became clear this was a project they both wanted to fully pursue—giving rise to Virgin Birth.

Ambos músicos provienen de raíces profundas en el punk y el rock indie, habiendo tocado en diversas bandas a lo largo de los años. The duo returns with I Can’t Read, the second and final preview of their upcoming album Total Annihilation, set for release in early May via the label Never Nervous Records. Lyrically, the song explores the frustration and confusion that arise from misinterpreting seemingly clear conversations, particularly in digital communication (such as emails or text messages). It delves into the nuances of language, the gaps between intention and perception, and the subtle misunderstandings that can emerge when tone and context are lost in written interactions.

El dúo regresa I Can’t Read, segundo y último adelanto de su próximo álbum Total Annihilation, el cual se publicará a inicios de mayo en el sello Never Nervous Records. En cuanto a la letra, la canción explora la frustración y confusión que surgen al malinterpretar conversaciones aparentemente claras, especialmente en la comunicación digital (como correos electrónicos o mensajes de texto).
