Catenation – Infinite Expansion
Industrial band Catenation, formed by Sylvia Hinz and Jeanne Artemis, unveils their new EP ‘Infinite Expansion,’ seamlessly weaving raw and disparate elements of power electronics, metal, and unconventional instrumentation, notably the mesmerizing sub great bass recorder, into an enthralling and intense musical journey.
Sylvia Hinz is a Instrumentalist, Conductor, Lecturer, Initiator. Founder of the Ensembles XelmYa, Umbratono and others. Praised for her equally fierce and bold dramatic performance style, Sylvia Hinz is one of the leading recorder players worldwide, specialising in contemporary music and improvisation. In addition to intensive sound research for the instrument recorder, Hinz breaks new ground with the combination of sound, electronics & video art.
Jeanne Artemis is a Composer and Musician. The origins for her musical mind were found by her at an early age in the european modernism, the achievements of cultures outside of europe and the innovative forms of the underground music scenes. Her commitment to pushing the boundaries of her art in various genres has not only garnered acclaim but has also served as a source of inspiration for many others to follow.
The unique music of Catenation can be described as a mixture of Industrial, Doom, Glitch, Noise and Ambient. Catenation use instruments such as recorders (from sopranino to sub double bass), modular systems, analogue and digital synthesisers, electric bass guitar, found object percussion as well as broken retro equipment. Catenation has performed at e.g. SoundsLikeTHIS UK, Dampfzentrale Bern CH, Interfilm Festival Berlin DE, IntegratedConf BE, Marry Klein Kulturdonnerstag DE, Setfest IR, played as support for Plaid, appeared on compilations such as Listen To Berlin and received scholarships from the Musikfonds, Neustart Kultur and the Goethe Institute.
