Dead Voices On Air – Abrader Redux [Cold Spring]
Dead Voices On Air is a legendary project that emerged in the early 90s as the solo project of Mark Spybey, a legendary artist who has participated in great bands such as Zoviet France, of which he was part in the late 80s, or also as a collaborating member of Download, which emerged in 1995 and was headed by Dwayne Goettel and Cevin Key (Skinny Puppy), or other collective projects such as Martin Atkins And The Chicago Industrial League, Spasm, Subconscious Electronic Orchestra, Sofortkontakt! Reformed Faction, Beehatch, Gnome & Spybey, Altered Statesmen, Solaris, Grizzly Steppe and Pata-Particles.
What started as an individual project, Dead Voices On Air, officially became a band in 2020 with the incorporation of Lori Cole, Marko Roberti and Anatoly Grinberg, but the group has continuously had numerous collaborating musicians throughout its 30 years of existence, which is why its sound is homogeneous and varies depending on the album. Even so, the sound structure of Dead Voices On Air can be defined as a kind of industrialised dark ambient, in which the textures are degraded to levels bordering on noise.
The band has released 80 albums to date, the first of which, Abrader, was released in 1994. This release is brought back by Cold Spring in a remastered reissue. The album was originally recorded in 1993 and released a year later on the Japanese label G.R.O.S.S.. Abrader Redux features the three lengthy tracks that were released on the original cassette, plus the bonus tracks that were included in the 2009 reprint as part of the «Fast Falls The Eventide» double CD, and now with two ‘new’ previously-unreleased bonus tracks recorded 1994 – taking this masterwork up to 7 tracks and over 67 minutes of exceptional music.
Release date: October 7th, 2022.
