KMFDM – HAU RUCK 2025 [Metropolis Records]

HAU RUCK 2025 celebrates the 20th anniversary of KMFDM’s iconic 14th album with a special remixed and remastered edition. Originally recorded in Seattle and released in 2005 under Metropolis Records, this work marked a turning point in the legendary industrial rock band’s career.

Following the sonic onslaught of WWIII (2003), a raw fusion of industrial and metal, KMFDM emerged as a more cohesive creative unit than ever before. «We all agreed this album had to be radically different,» revealed bandleader Sascha Konietzko, describing their vision. Inspiration struck with the military acronym FUBAR (Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition/Repair), which defined their goal: a more explosive, danceable, and electronic sound, far removed from traditional «butt rock.»

From protest anthems like Free Your Hate and New American Century to the viscerally raw grooves of Real Thing or the electro-aggressive Ready to Blow and Professional Killer, not to mention the swing rendition of Mini Mini Mini (originally by Jacques Dutronc) or the biting self-critique of Feed Our Fame, HAU RUCK was anything but a disaster (despite FUBAR). It was KMFDM at their purest: focused, incisive, and abrasive. A call to fight corruption and embrace individuality, even in the face of adversity. And what better title to encapsulate this philosophy than HAU RUCK, a rallying cry of conceptual continuity and raw power.

Grabado originalmente en Seattle y lanzado en 2005 bajo Metropolis Records, este trabajo marcó un punto de inflexión en la trayectoria de la legendaria banda de industrial rock.

Tras la contundente campaña sonora de ‘WWIII’ (2003), una fusión cruda de industrial y metal, KMFDM emergió como una unidad creativa más cohesionada que nunca. «Todos coincidíamos en que este disco debía ser radicalmente diferente», reveló Sascha Konietzko, líder de la banda, al describir su visión. La inspiración llegó con el acrónimo militar FUBAR (Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition/Repair), que definió su meta con un sonido más explosivo, bailable y electrónico, alejado del «butt rock» tradicional.

Desde los himnos de protesta como Free Your Hate y New American Century, hasta los grooves visceralmente crudos de Real Thing o el electroagresivo de Ready to Blow y Professional Killer; sin olvidar la versión swing de Mini Mini Mini (original de Jacques Dutronc) o la mordaz autocrítica de Feed Our Fame, HAU RUCK fue todo menos un desastre (a pesar de FUBAR). Fue KMFDM en su estado más puro: concentrado, incisivo y abrasivo. Un llamado a combatir la corrupción y abrazar la individualidad, incluso frente a la adversidad. Y qué mejor título para encapsular esta filosofía que ‘HAU RUCK’, un grito de continuidad conceptual y potencia bruta.
