Stanislav Tolkachev, Aki Himanen and Aleksi Kinnunen – Breakers Ahead [Jazz-O-Tech]

Jazz-O-Tech will soon be five years old and will be a fully consolidated recording project, with a very attractive formula that has been moulded and developed into a style of its own. Mattia Prete is responsible for shaping this label, his idea of fusing two such disparate genres as techno and jazz has worked to the extent of not falling into mere interpretations, as it is not about two different paths united for the same purpose, as would be the case of creating a series of rhythmic structures that would later be used as a base for the musicians to simply add their musical improvisation, but rather it is about creating from a single entity, musician and producer jointly developing the track.

The second volume of This Is Techno Jazz demonstrates this perfect alliance between jazz and avant-garde electronic music, which on many occasions crosses the barrier between an intense, provocative and dance-oriented genre such as techno, with another type of interpretation that is more recreational and playful for the ear. In addition, the label’s guidelines towards the artists is that it gives them total freedom to offer their particular point of view of this unification between the technological applications of electronic music and the singularity of the complexity and originality of improvisation.

This Is Techno Jazz volume 2 brings together a huge line-up of artists, among them illustrious names in international techno such as Reeko and Stanislav Tolkachev.
