Emilio Gordoa, Matthias Müller, Josten Myburgh & Adam Pultz-Melbye – Berlin Split [Tone List]
Josten Myburgh is the axis of Berlin Split, the new launch of Tone List. This Australian composer and experimental music virtuoso is one of the top managers of this Perth-based label. Josten forms a first musical project with Adam Pultz-Melbye and Emilio Gordoa in which they combine analog instruments such as Vibraphone and Double Bass, with electronic elements, and more recently he joins trombonist Matthias Müller with whom he records a piece for this EP.
Berlin Split is an EP with two extensive cuts, the first of which is by the trio formed by Josten, Adam and Emilio. These three musicians have been playing for a few years since their first meeting in Berlin and although it may seem that the result of this mix between analog and digital is the closest thing to mixing electronic music with chamber music, this is just a mirage, their style is based on the search for new textures.
Matthias Müller is Josten Myburgh’s ally in the second part of the launch. In this case the duo works with a harder sound, with noise layers and trombone joints.
Release date: August 16th, 2019.
