Eobiont – Carnephorer [Saup Records]

Saup Records reissues Carnephorer, the debut EP by the solo project Eobiont, conceived by Lâwû Makuriye’nte and released posthumously as a tribute to its creator. Available on black CD digipak in a limited run of 50 copies and in digital format, the reissue directs all proceeds to the Saup Foundation, based in San Simon, Pampanga, a region whose Kapampangan heritage forms the conceptual core of the record.

The recording was made over five days during a winter residency at Donations Project (Bilbao), mastered by Sean Matsukawa at Blü Room Studios, with cover art and prosthetic work by Camile Duhart. The urgency of the process does nothing to diminish the density of the result: four pieces that articulate experimental noise, ancestral memory, and bodily transformation into a singular language.

Canyon Collapse opens the EP with vocal stratifications oscillating between dementia and cordiality, over a substrate of frequencies and rhythmic patterns that underscore the piece’s pervasive anxiety. Without Exile With Myth introduces industrial textures and irregular rhythmic structures as a framework for poetic writing steeped in colonial debt and sonic reclamation. Ing Asbuk Mu works with tape recordings of family narratives, oral material that solidifies into frequency, tracing an arc between ethnic memory and futurist projection. Jouissance closes the cycle with a descent into gothic doom, transmuting accumulated weight into something approaching catharsis.

Eobiont’s practice integrated bioplastic prosthetics, self-built electronic instruments, albularyo technology, kinetic movement, and mixed-reality audiovisual work. Carnephorer condenses that universe without softening it, a sonic artifact built from vulnerability and the violence of change, which endures precisely because it does not seek to last, but to mutate.

Disponible en CD digipak negro en tirada de 50 ejemplares y formato digital, la reedición destina íntegramente sus beneficios a la Fundación Saup, radicada en San Simon, Pampanga, región cuya herencia kapampangan vertebra el núcleo conceptual del disco.

La urgencia del proceso no resta densidad al resultado, con cuatro piezas que articulan ruido experimental, memoria ancestral y transformación corporal en un lenguaje.

Canyon Collapse inaugura el EP con estratificaciones vocales que oscilan entre la demencia y la cordialidad, sobre un sustrato de frecuencias y patrones rítmicos que ratifican la ansiedad de la pieza. Without Exile With Myth introduce texturas industriales y estructuras rítmicas irregulares que funcionan como soporte de una escritura poética cargada de deuda colonial y reivindicación sonora. Ing Asbuk Mu trabaja con grabaciones en cinta de relatos familiares, con material oral que se solidifica en frecuencia, trazando un arco entre memoria étnica y proyección futurista. Jouissance cierra el ciclo con una caída hacia el doom gótico, transmutando el peso acumulado en algo que se aproxima a la catarsis.

La práctica de Eobiont integró prótesis bioplásticas, instrumentos electrónicos de fabricación propia, tecnología albularyo, movimiento cinético y audiovisual de realidad mixta. Carnephorer condensa ese universo sin suavizarlo, como un artefacto sonoro construido desde la vulnerabilidad y la violencia del cambio, que permanece intacto precisamente porque no busca durar, sino mutar.
