Incendie – Dawn Mist [Soil Records]

Incendie is the artistic project of Arthur Bdt, a Berlin-based producer, DJ, and director. He is also known for his work with Area Z and his collaborations on projects like A.T.T.Corp and Human Spine. His signature style involves the creation of raw, cinematic, and introspective atmospheres, weaving a complex sound that draws from a wide palette of influences. These include the most visceral techno, the dark and corrosive textures of post-industrial, the density of post-metal, and the freedom of experimental music.

With an ever-evolving trajectory, Incendie burst onto the scene with his debut album in 2021 on the label Under My Feet, a work that immerses the listener in soundscapes oriented toward IDM and industrial experimentalism. This was followed by the release of two powerful Techno-EBM EPs on renowned labels such as Aufnahme + Wiedergabe and X-IMG. Recently, he has added a debut on the historic rhythmic noise label HANDS to his catalog, alongside standout performances at festivals like Forms of Hands and Bunkernoise, and an opening slot for the legendary Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura, Mixhell).

The next chapter in his discography arrives with ‘Dawn Mist’, a work released on the Spanish label Soil Records. This EP reveals a more luminous and melodic facet in Incendie’s productions, without abandoning the essence that currently characterizes him: the fusion of EBM and techno. The A-side of the record, with the tracks «Secular Dawn» and «Decaying Realities,» explores territories of melodic techno and emotional depth, while «Stress» introduces grooves influenced by electro. The B-side, however, marks a powerful return to the punchy beats and dark sequences of Techno-EBM with «Counterfactuals» and «Erosion of Trust.»

The release is complemented by an exceptional repertoire of remixes. SMForma (Barcelona) contributes a powerful and visceral version of «Secular Dawn.» Ottoman’s Grüw (Brussels) deconstructs «Counterfactuals» into a haunting, atmospheric piece. Closing the package is SOJ, the founder of the Soil label, who offers an ecstatic and hypnotic variation of «Decaying Realities.»

Dawn Mist captures a specific, vital period for the artist—a time when love and meaningful friendships radiated through his existence. The record symbolizes an episode where everything flowed with greater ease, offering a more versatile and technically mature facet.

La cara B, sin embargo, marca un regreso contundente a los beats rotundos y las secuencias oscuras del Techno-EBM con «Counterfactuals» y «Erosion of Trust».

El lanzamiento se complementa con un excepcional repertorio de remezclas a cargo de SMForma (Barcelona), el cual aporta una versión potente y visceral de «Secular Dawn». También participa Ottoman’s Grüw (Bruselas), el cual descompone «Counterfactuals» en una pieza inquietante y atmosférica. Y cierra la versión de SOJ, el fundador del sello Soil, quien ofrece una variación extática y hipnótica de «Decaying Realities».

Dawn Mist captura un período vital específico del artista, un tiempo en el que el amor y las amistades significativas irradiaron su existencia. El disco simboliza un episodio en el que todo fluyó con mayor facilidad, ofreciendo una faceta más versátil y técnicamente más madura.
