AD OZIUM – In the Style of Dead Sparrows [Saccharine Underground]

Jeremy Moore constructs under the name AD Ozium an album that shuns any form of auditory comfort. In the Style of Dead Sparrows articulates a language of its own in which acoustic strings and electronic distortion do not oppose each other but coexist in a sustained tension, as if each sonic element existed in a state of permanent transformation.

The album proposes no conventional structures or recognizable narrative arcs. The tracks unfold from silence, acquire a momentary consistency, and dissolve without having completed any cycle. Rhythmic patterns appear and fragment, guitar figures turn in on themselves without reaching a vanishing point, and noise does not burst in but inhabits the same plane as the most delicate sound. Nothing occupies a fixed place, every texture seems to continuously negotiate its position within the whole.

The acoustic dimension of the record introduces a constant ambiguity. The string motifs suggest something recognizable, almost sedative, yet that familiarity is systematically destabilized by elements that surround and corrode it from within. There is no antagonism between the organic and the abrasive, there is a fusion that produces something qualitatively distinct from its parts.

What sustains the record is not an explicit thematic idea but a dense and variable atmosphere, capable of moving from stillness to saturation without visible transition. There is a rigorous internal logic that, nonetheless, never allows itself to be fully read. In the Style of Dead Sparrows articula un lenguaje propio en el que las cuerdas acústicas y la distorsión electrónica no se oponen sino que coexisten en una tensión sostenida, como si cada elemento sonoro existiera en un estado de transformación permanente.

El álbum no propone estructuras convencionales ni arcos narrativos reconocibles. Los temas se despliegan desde el silencio, adquieren una consistencia momentánea y se deshacen sin haber completado ningún ciclo. Los patrones rítmicos aparecen y se fragmentan, las figuras de guitarra giran sobre sí mismas sin alcanzar punto de fuga y el ruido no irrumpe sino que habita el mismo plano que el sonido más delicado. Nada ocupa un lugar fijo, cada textura parece negociar continuamente su posición dentro del conjunto.

La dimensión acústica del disco introduce una ambigüedad constante. Los motivos de cuerda sugieren algo reconocible, casi sedante, pero esa familiaridad queda sistemáticamente desestabilizada por elementos que la rodean y la corroen desde dentro. No hay antagonismo entre lo orgánico y lo abrasivo: hay una fusión que produce algo cualitativamente distinto a sus partes.

Lo que sostiene el disco no es una idea temática explícita sino una atmósfera densa y variable, capaz de pasar de la quietud a la saturación sin transición visible. Hay una lógica interna rigurosa que, sin embargo, nunca se deja leer del todo. Los mismos gestos reaparecen transformados, como si el material se revisitara a sí mismo desde otro ángulo, generando una sensación de ciclo sin retorno al punto de partida.
