Casamata brings together three fundamental pillars of the Spanish industrial and experimental scene: Javier Hernando, Ángel Lalinde, and Alain Wergifosse, the latter of Belgian roots but long-established in Barcelona. Remembered for their solo works and for collaborations that, over four decades ago, helped shape an incipient scene, their work was not limited to creation alone; they also laid the foundations for distribution structures, such as the crucial label Ortega y Cassette, managed by Hernando and Lalinde.
This album is the logical culmination of that shared journey, a protracted evolution of their capacity for sonic experimentation. The eight tracks that make up Casamata possess a density and primal rawness that could place us at the dawn of their careers, reviving a working methodology close to the way of doing things in the past. However, listening closely reveals an undeniable contemporaneity.
Thus, Casamata functions as a perfect bridge between legacy and the present. We can confidently say that this is the sound of those who shaped a scene, now reinterpreting their own rules with today’s wisdom and tools. It is a work that does not look to the past with nostalgia, but rather uses it as the foundation for a new, solid, and unbreakable structure, like a true fortress of noise, memory, and avant-garde.
