Die Krupps – On Collision Course [Dependent Records]

Die Krupps is a foundational band in the history of industrial and electronic music, with origins tracing back to the early 1980s German punk scene. Founded in Düsseldorf in October 1980 by Jürgen Engler and Bernward Malaka, who were previously members of Male (considered Germany’s first punk band), the group has undergone a remarkable sonic evolution over more than four decades. Beginning with noise and post-punk, they later embraced EBM and industrial, finally incorporating strong heavy metal influences in the 1990s, even covering Metallica. This constant change demonstrates their ability to reinvent themselves without losing a transgressive attitude.

Following a hiatus between 1997 and 2005, Die Krupps returned with force and remains active today, with Engler and Ralf Dörper as core members, alongside Marcel Zürcher. Recently, the band announced the release of an exclusive EP for their 45th-anniversary tour, titled «Will nicht – MUSS! / On Collision Course.» This is a limited, hand-numbered edition aimed at collectors and die-hard fans. The work includes contributions and remixes from members of Ministry, with whom they recently shared a US tour, reinforcing their relevance and connection with other legends of the genre.

As a preview of this EP and an upcoming album, the band has released the single «On Collision Course», available on all digital platforms through Dependent Records. Fundada en Düsseldorf en octubre de 1980 por Jürgen Engler y Bernward Malaka, quienes previamente formaron parte de Male (considerada la primera banda punk de Alemania), el grupo ha transitado por una notable evolución sonora a lo largo de más de cuatro décadas. Iniciándose en el noise y el post-punk, luego abrazaron el EBM y el industrial, para finalmente incorporar fuertes influencias del metal en los años noventa, llegando incluso a versionar a Metallica. Este constante cambio demuestra su capacidad de reinventarse sin perder una actitud transgresora.
