The prelude to the Lithuanian Audra festival kicks off with a series of events including a performance by Matas Petrikas, producer, DJ, author of The Joy of Electronic Music, co-founder of Soundcloud and member of the cult band Exem. In addition to various talks and an interesting screening, a film-concert presented by pianist Kino Pavasaris about the legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto, who passed away just a year ago.

Arrancan los prolegómenos del festival lituano Audra, con una serie de eventos entre los que podemos destacar la actuación de Matas Petrikas, productor, DJ, autor de The Joy of Electronic Music, cofundador de Soundcloud y miembro de la banda de culto Exem. Además de distintas charlas y una interesante proyección, una película-concierto presentado por el pianista Kino Pavasaris sobre el legendario Ryuichi Sakamoto, fallecido justo hace un año.

For two consecutive years, the main part of the Audra festival programme takes place in the Victory Factory. This is the only time the public has the opportunity to see this industrial time capsule in a cultural context. Lithuanian DJ duo VHS Library and the festival joined forces with audiovisual creators Antidote Community to present an episode of live performances from the same location.

Durante dos años consecutivos, la parte principal de la programación del festival Audra tiene lugar en la Victory Factory. Esta es la única vez que el público tiene la oportunidad de ver esta cápsula industrial del tiempo dentro de un contexto cultural. El dúo lituano de DJ VHS Library y el festival unieron fuerzas con los creadores audiovisuales Antidote Community para presentar un episodio de actuaciones en directo desde este mismo lugar.

Filmed at the historic Pergalė metal processing factory, which is sporadically transformed into a venue for cultural events as a result of its unique industrial aesthetic, the VHS Library performance marks the twenty-third episode of the Antidote Community series in various spectacular locations around Lithuania and the long-awaited preparation for the Audra music festival.

Filmada en la histórica fábrica de procesamiento de metales Pergalė, que se transforma esporádicamente en sede de actos culturales gracias a su singular estética industrial, la actuación de VHS Library marca el vigésimo tercer episodio de la serie Antidote Community en diversos lugares espectaculares de Lituania y la esperada preparación del festival.

“For two years in a row, the main part of the Festival’s musical programme takes place at the Pergalė factory. This is the only time the audience can see this industrial time capsule in a cultural context. We wanted to commemorate this unique confluence of the Kaunas factory and modern culture, as such places are rapidly diminishing in Europe,” said Žilvinas Širka, half of the VHS Library duo and the co-founder of both the Audra Festival and Lizdas music club.

“Durante dos años consecutivos, la parte principal del programa musical del Festival tiene lugar en la fábrica de Pergalė. Es la única vez que el público puede ver esta cápsula del tiempo industrial en un contexto cultural. Queríamos conmemorar esta confluencia única de la fábrica de Kaunas y la cultura moderna, ya que estos lugares están disminuyendo rápidamente en Europa”, declaró Žilvinas Širka, mitad del dúo VHS Library y cofundador tanto del Festival Audra como del club de música Lizdas.

During their entire performance, the VHS Library were spinning vinyl records with their backs against a fully functional, industrial lathe, which dictates the rhythm and atmosphere of the episode with its incessant, mesmerising motion.

Durante toda su actuación, VHS Library pinchó a vinilo con la espalda apoyada en un torno industrial totalmente funcional, que dicta el ritmo y la atmósfera del episodio con su movimiento incesante e hipnotizador.

Contemporary art festival AUDRA is set to take place in Kaunas on the 5th-9th of June and is expected to flood the city with concerts, visual installations, raves, and, most importantly, people that are hungry for all of this to happen again.

Audra regresa una vez más a la ciudad de Kaunas del 5 al 9 de junio. El festival, de cuatro días de duración, inundará la ciudad de conciertos, instalaciones artísticas, baile, raves y gente ávida de todo ello.
