Mildreda – Blue​-​Devilled [Dependent Records]

Although Mildreda’s initial phase dates back to the early 90s, at the present time, and after a long break, the Belgian project is enjoying a magnificent recording activity, with the release of two great albums this year.

Jan Dewulf has masterfully reactivated Mildreda and 2023 has been particularly productive, first with the release in August of I Was Never Really There, an album that offers an incredible variety of songs and a series of collaborations and participations by big names in the dark electronic scene, such as Dirk Ivens or Don Gordon, leader of the Canadian band Numb.

German label Dependent Records released I Was Never Really There and will also release Blue-Devilled. Last week, Mildreda unveiled the video for Prophecies, the forthcoming preview of Blue-Devilled. The video deftly portrays the mental struggle between faith and reason through deliberately dark and graphic imagery with rich symbolism for the viewer to decipher and interpret. For the creation of these visuals, Mildreda again collaborated with Pigeon Eggs. With this Belgian production team he had previously worked on the acclaimed video for Liaisons Dangereuses, which was selected for the Brussels Independent Film Festival 2022.
